UKZN Virtual Graduation

Welcome all graduands to the Spring Virtual Graduation 2021

The academic year leading up to this celebration of your achievements has been unprecedented in its challenges -as you all know only too well.

Foremost in your lives amid academic priorities has been the COVID-19 pandemic that swept across the globe and is ominously still here with us today… and indications are it will be for the significant future! It is in the interests of safety – yours, ours, and our respective loved ones as well as the need to observe the stipulated health protocols – that our graduations are again being held in the virtual space.

It is a special honour, given what you have had to endure to be here today, to share with you the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s virtual graduation ceremony for the first class of 2021.

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Nana Poku, will officially confer degrees on all graduands who have succeeded in meeting their academic requirements, and will also confer qualifications posthumously.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellors will address our graduands and the Deans will convey their personal congratulatory messages to our graduands.

The ceremony will be live-streamed on the UKZN Graduation webpage: https://virtualgraduation.ukzn.ac.za.Our graduands and members of the University Community will also be able to join the ceremony via this link.

This is a very special day in the lives of our graduands and for the University, and you will, without doubt, be taking celebratory videos and photos. We encourage you to add to the festive spirit of the wonderful occasion by sharing these memorable moments on our hashtag: #UKZNspringGrad2020.

Our annual graduation ceremonies are at the heart of our academic calendar. We therefore also urge members of the University community, in general, to actively participate in our social media platforms to celebrate with our graduands. We value your support in making this virtual event a success.

Please celebrate responsibly and adhere to the national COVID-19 regulations for physical distancing, wearing of masks as well as all other health-related measures.

Stay safe and take care.

Thank you,
